Based on the domestic and foreign studies of Brian Richardson’s unnatural narrative theory, and through the study of deep reading of Brian Richardson’s theoretical works on unnatural narrative theory, and introducing relevant theorists’researching views at the same time, in order to systematically and comprehensively systemize and analyze Brian Richardson’s unnatural narrative theory. The whole thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter begins with Brian Richardson’s academic development and research situation of the domestic and foreign, then pointing out the deficiencies of the domestic research; The second chapter mainly discusses Brian Richardson’s definition of unnatural narrative divided by mimetic, nonmimetic and antimimetic, comparing with Jan Alber, Monika Fludernik’s relevant opinions to analysis on the rationalities and deficiencies of Brian Richardson’s definition of unnatural narrative; The third chapter discusses Brian Richardson’s unnatural narrative theory from the story level, and based on the analysis of how specific narrative works construct " Impossible Storyworlds" to challenge mimetic narrative theory from the dimensions of time and space, in order to account for the necessity of unnatural narrative theory, and making use of specific examples to explain how to understand "Impossible Storyworlds"; The fourth chapter investigates on Brian Richardson’s theoretical analysis of "Abnormal Narrative Behaviors" consistently used by unnatural narrative from the discourse level. Centering on the "narrator" and discusses the three types of unnatural narrative persons and the narrator’s special forms and its "dehumanization"; The fifth chapter points out the value of Brian Richardson’s unnatural narrative theory and the possible problems that need to be resolved in the future.
