A Report On The Translation Of Chapter Seven Of Arctic Dreams

This translation report is based on the translation of Chapter Seven in the Arctic Dreams. This Chapter mainly encompasses the early exploration of Arctic regions by navigators and explorers, the Eskimos’ perfect understanding of their living place and the changing of map-making in Arctic areas.This translation report falls into four parts. The first part is the description of the translation material, including the brief introduction to the source of the translation material and its significance, especially the worthwhile ecological view of nature; the second part focuses on the translation process, which includes the preparation for the translation, the modification and finalization; the third part is the analysis of the translation cases from the aspects of vocabulary, syntax, and cultural background; and the last part is the summary of this translation practice.The report reviews the whole process of the translation, during which the author improves the translating skills and gets a deeper understanding of the responsibility and quality of a translator.
