In novels about 17-year agricultural cooperation, the rich peasants are a special group of people.After the downfall of landlord, they become the most initiative group in the countryside,therefore, they show the most hostility to the cooperative transformation of agriculture.On the other hand, their property and class status make them unable to be involved in fierce class conflicts. In the game of left-leaning and right-leaning during cooperation, the rich peasants finally walks on the way of cooperation, and the traditional countryside culture behind has also undergone significant change.This dissertation mainly in the "San Li Wan","Shan Xiang Ju Bian","Chuang Ye Shi’V’Yan Yang Tian" of four novels about agricultural cooperation as the research object of cooperatives.This dissertation analyzes the complex attitude and final choice of the rich peasants towards agricultural cooperation from three aspects.The first chapter deals with economy.The subduction of their economic rights, the gradual loss of the land rights and the change of distribution method, are always side by side with the resistance and compromise of the rich peasants. This the contradiction among small-scale peasant economy,market economy and state planning. The second chapter deals with politics in grass roots. In the novels about the agricultural cooperation, the political status of the rich peasants reveals the political factors which facilitate the completion of the cooperation. The popularization of class discourse provide legal guarantee in the struggle against the rich peasants. On the superincumbent political track, the intrinsic "local elite"in the countryside have been tamed or wiped out. When political propaganda permeates all the aspects of peasants’lives, individuals in the countryside have to join the tide of the cooperation.The third chapter talks about countryside culture. Through the fierce conflicts in novels themed by agricultural cooperation, we can dimly observe the significance of the rich peasants in the society and culture of countryside. The traditional countryside culture appears in the description of the cooperation in a flexural way. Althought it is not totally cut away, its secret inheritance in countryside culture is obstructed by the agricultural cooperation.In modern times, the traditional social power and cultural structure in Chinese countryside have always been extruding and transforming and the cooperation can be viewed as extension of this trend. However,state power has not reached every person in the countryside until the period of the cooperatiton. When the rich peasants finally join in the coopertion, everything in countryside has to depend on the plan and deploy of the state.
