With the economic growth of China, International schools and programs have a rapid development during these years. Under this background, Chinese language teaching has played an important role in the international schools. However, Chinese language teaching and learning is never an easy job owing to Chinese own characteristics. Students have encountered many obstacles during learning process. Therefore, many educators who teach Chinese in International schools have dedicated themselves continuously to finding some effective methods to improve the teaching and learning quality. And also, the educators have realized that the well-designed classroom activities can be the effective way to improve both teaching efficiency and students’ learning efficiency. Task-based language teaching approach is a teaching methodology which generally means the teacher use authentic language and ask students to do meaningful tasks using the target language. In the process of carrying out the task, the students’ learning interest and enthusiasm can be aroused through the participation, communication, cooperation, and so forth. In this paper, the author has applied the task-based language teaching approach into the Chinese teaching class in the international school. It turns out that the method is an effective way in terms of developing students’ learning potential and fostering their positive attitudes towards learning Chinese.This research has selected two parallel classes in the same international school as the subjects, and applied "task-based teaching activities" into one of the AP Chinese class. The experiment shows the class which is applied the task-based language teaching approach has achieved following results:First, the enthusiasm and interest of the students of learning Chinese has been improved;Second, compared to the other parallel class, students in this experimental class get the higher scores in the AP Chinese exams.
