Different to common literary translation, most of the screen translation object is the dialogue between characters, and the language of films has the characters such as the dialogue happen in one moment, the words should be easy to be understood, and there should be no note, so the translation should be short and easy to be understood, also it should be veritable Chinese. All of these requests make the translation has colloquial style, which means the dialogue between actors like the dialogue in the real life.At the same time, the screen translation has the limits such as the length of words, the movement and the mouth-shape of actors, because the language of films is consisted of the dialogue and lens language. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to explore the way to achieve the colloquial translation under the limitation of the film picture.Based on the Japanese lines and Chinese lines of the films Kimi yo Fundo no Kawa o Watare, Sandakan No.8, and A Distant Cry from Spring, and the literary scripts of Sandakan No.8, and A Distant Cry from Spring, this paper compared and analyzed the difference between lines and script.In the first chapter, the writer analyzed the lines of the film language with the basic principles of the screen translation prior studies firstly. Second the writer generalized four points that translation should be easy to be understood, should be fit to the characters, should be fit to the mouth-shape, and should has the same length with original lines. Finally, the writer summarized the most important character of the screen translation, which is achieving the colloquial translation under the limitation of the film picture. In the second chapter, by comparing the lines and scripts of the films, the writer found the way to achieve the colloquial translation from three aspects, which are sentence, vocabulary, and emotional expression. In the third chapter, combining the picture of films, the writer counted the data of speed, pause, length, and pictures in films with the audio processing software Cool Edit Pro2. With the data, we could research the limitation and the processing way of the screen translation from the pictures.The research shows that in order to achieve the colloquial translation, the translators need to make the lines be very Chinese. More important, the translators need to improve the lines from visual presentation. Through these two aspects, the auditory and visual sense could mix terrifically, which make the film better.
