Historical novels are a significant proportion and a relatively stable part of Mao Dun Literature Prize(hereinafter referred to as “Mao Award”).From the fourth White Deer Plain on, the narrative of “Mao Award” historical novels has a significant new change.The "new" historical narrative texts of "Mao Award" have some typical, representative, which is not only different from the traditional historical narrative texts of “Mao Award”, but also very different from the New Historical Novels which have the meaning of pioneer in the Chinese contemporary literature history, so it can be used as a stand-alone phenomenon to study. This article attempts to use the 20 historical novels of “Mao Award”, in particular the eight novels whose historical narrative has obvious changes as the research object, by the manner of a partial contacts the overall, focusing on the “constant” and “variable” in the historical novels of “Mao Award”, in order to further examine the micro-change of the criteria of “Mao Award”.The text is divided into three parts, the first part discusses the “normal” of narrative of “Mao Award” historical novels, that is where the “new” historical narrative sticks to the traditional historical narrative. This stick is mainly manifested in the two aspects of the text of the “epic” and omniscient narrative perspective, namely new historical narrative texts often take the grand narrative, followed certain historical rationality and showed to the spirit dimension, showing a tendency of “epic” and omniscient narrative perspective in the new historical narrative still occupy a pivotal position. The second part discusses the “change” of the narrative of “Mao Award” historical novels, that is where the “new” historical narrative beyond the traditional historical narrative.This “beyond” is mainly manifested in two aspects. Firstly, it is the change in the conception of narrative, namely the “new” historical narrative question the inevitability and the teleology of the history, focusing on the text character and fiction of the history, focusing on “small consciousness” and “personal narrative”, and thinking “all history is contemporary history”. Secondly, it is the change of narrative mode, namely the new historical narrative is not only a large number of the introduction of the first person, the third person and even the second person limited narrative perspective, but also the narrative time and space is more diversified, more subjective. Last part is mainly from the “constant” and “change” of the narrative of “Mao Award” historical novels to examine the micro-change of the criteria of “Mao Award”.Combined with the “change” of the narrative of “Mao Award” historical novels, it can be found that the “Mao Award” is not only to relax the ideological standards, but also gradually to return to literature. However, with the “normal” of the narrative of “Mao Award” historical novels, this change can be found within certain limits, that the award criteria still insist positive thoughts and the realism aesthetic leadership and the like.
