New Historical Narrative Novels Since 1990s

At the end of eighties and early ninety’s, added by the influence of foreign structuralism and new historicism theory, the literary world lifted a new historical novel creation boom. The new historical novel writers used unique historical narrative techniques, with the new conception of history and cultural consciousness on historical individual and folk narrative, restoring the series of colorful complex historical pictures, creating a vision of its aesthetic space and artistic thinking, expressing the writer’s personal feelings and culture ideals. The thesis analyzed mainly from the perspective of narratology, focusing on the narrative perspective, narrative structure, narrative strategy and narrative method in-depth study.Contents of this paper firstly discusses the narrative features of the female, ugliness, death about the new historical novel. Mainly from the following three aspects analysis:female writing in gender perspective; the appreciation of ugliness to reflect human nature is very normal; the meaning of existence under the state of death. Secondly discusses the new history novel narrative structure of reverse causality. Mainly from accidental narration, polyphonic structure and maze describes three aspects to carry on the analysis. By accident, sudden plot disturbance the process of the history development, with blank, replication, and rewriting disrupted the text space, give a person confused miscellaneous, random and chaotic. Once more analyzes the new historical novel marginal narrative strategy. Mainly from the following three aspects:paying attention to the folk narrative; perspectiving narrative blank; mining edge figures. Next discusses multiple narrative method. Mainly from the elephant of metaphor; allegorical narrative style; the poetic imagination of history three aspects. The conclusion part analyzes the creation value and defects of the new historical novel.Although the new historical novel has its limitations, its achievements in the historical narrative will produce far-reaching effect of Chinese historical novels.
