The Song Learning, as an indispensable and trans-century immense academic system out of China’s academic circles, occupies an extremely important place in its intellectual history and also weighs heavily on the studies of Chinese thoughts and learning. Academics both from China and Japan, have already conducted broad and extensive researches on Song Learning, with their eyes mainly focusing on its mainline Neo-Confucianism especially. The thesis plans to revolve around Kojima Tsuyoshi’s The Formation and Development of Song Learning, for it richly rewards the effort of careful reading no matter in its contents, views, methods or perspectives of researches. Starting with a brand-new perspective, and taking "Heaven" "Nature" "Way" "Education" as the theme, this book unfolds a wide vision stretching from the revolutionary Tang and Song Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, with which to feel the veining of the development of Cheng-Zhu School.Meanwhile, by virtue of a close analogy with other research pieces of Song Learning completed by both Chinese and Japanese scholars, a clear cognition of similarities and differences varying from views to methods about Song Learning researches will be realized. The text falls into three parts:Its first task is to illustrate the definition, with the aim to clarify those different understandings about Song Learning, and also set forth the representative thoughts of China’s representative scholars in Song Learning studies. Secondly, it centers on the views of Japanese scholars, represented by Kojima Tsuyoshi and his The Formation and Development of Song Learning. At last, based on The Formation and Development of Song Learning, it compares the different views on Song Learning of the Sino-Japanese representatives. Centering on Kojima Tsuyoshi’s The Formation and Development of Song Learning, this thesis draws on an analogy between Sino-Japanese academics of Song Learning in their views of this School, attempting to discover some new thoughts, new ideas, and new methods about Song Learning studies, to provide ultimately a bit useful information for future researches related.
