(As it represented in People’s Daily), it was obvious that the intention of the organ of the party which is operated by the Communist Party of China was to guide the trend of Chinese literature in the beginning of the New Era (1976-1983). With the development of social realities and literature itself, the intention had changed during different periods. From the criticism of "Cultural Civilization" to prospering the literature’s fabrication, then controlling tighter, until "Remove Spiritual Pollution" movement as the end of this era, it showed a tendency which was from relaxation to intense. During this process, the newspaper adopted various guiding strategies. We could clarify the guiding intentions and examine the results by instigating and analyzing the strategies. However, the guiding discourse of People’s Daily was not unified. There were many contradictions in it. Because of the limitation of historical understanding, backwards factors always existed in the criticism of "Gang of Four". In the process of prospering literary creation, some "cross-border" points of view and statements appeared, which also cause the organ to go into panic. When the mainstream strengthened the management and control of literature, some open knowledge had become the "consensus". Only in the "consensus" range enhancements could the management and control be useful. There were also a lot of ambiguous details in the operations, so control was not fully implemented in a way. These spilt tributaries on one hand proved the existence of the internal contradictions and conflicts in the newspaper’s discourse, on the other hand reflected the uncontrolled power of literature progress itself. Chinese literature had been stepping into a new direction.Under the support of the national will, Chinese literature in New Era had achieved its initial prosperity. The party’s newspaper, especially People’s Daily, speeded the development of literature up under the guidance of criticizing the "Gang of Four" and promoting the modernization. But the guidance of the party’s organ to Chinese literature could not exceed the premise of "the leadership of party". No matter what direction it guided, the ultimate goal was to maintain the leadership of the ruling party, social stability and the consolidation of the regime which was definitely conflicting to the needs of literature’s own development. We can have a richer perception of Chinese contemporary literature’s history and a certain reflection of Chinese contemporary literary discipline through the investigation of this issue.
