Tsung-mi is the fifth Hua-yen school patriarch and the inheritor of Heze school.His thoughts not only simply pass on the doctrine and theory of Hua-yen school,but also assimilate the thoughs of Zen.<原人论>of Tsung-mi is a work which has a great influence.Although the work is in a limited space available to everyone,it still has a systematic and mathematic organization.In addition,the freedom of range is huge.What is worth mentioning,the work not only coalesce schools and sects internally,but also coalesce Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism erternall,which has a enormous affect on the whole Buddhism and Chinese philosophy.The innovation of<原人论>is to add the Confucianism and Taoism into the classification of Buddha’s teaching.Tsung-mi stands for the religious teachings that Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism should be divided into six schools,which is Confucianism and Taoism teaches,Teaching for humans and gods,Theravada teaching,Vijnaptimatrata school,Teaching that refutes phenomenal appearances,and Teaching that reveals the nature.His thoughts mainly originated from Buddhism,at the same time,he puts Confucianism and Taoism at the lowest level of his structure.His ultimate target is to deduce that Teaching that reveals the nature is the highest of his structure step by step.Also,the aim of the accordance of Ch’an and schools is to coordinate the whole teachings in Buddhism.Because the unification of Buddhism itself is the fatal key to assimilating Confucianism and Taoism.On the one hand,Tsung-mi divides all the teachings into three parts,which is teaching that illustrates phenomenal appearances according to the nature underground,teaching that refutes phenomenal appearances and reveals the nature underground,teaching that reveals that chinsim is nature distinctly.On the other hand,he divides all the Ch’an into three parts,which is teaching that wipes off the desires and cultivates their minds,teaching that eliminates every obsessions to person and the world,teaching that reveals the true nature straightly.Then,Tsung-mi try to build a idea that three parts of teachings demonstrate the three parts of Ch’an.By this way,a final conclusion that Hua-yen school can assimilate all the philosophy could be drawn.Through this method,Tsung-mi combines his own knowledge and experience and comes up with the concept of true heart to his name creatively.In addition,he builds up a different system info.In Tsung-mi’s philosophical system,the answer to all problems is established in the true heart.His diversified comprehensive thoughts contain the material universe and his own religion requires thoroughly,which reveals the both trends of theory and practice.On this basis,he sets up a new system info that understands thoroughly between Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,making significance in the history of Chinese philosophy.His researches in<原人论>are required by his times,which not only solve the controversies and disputes between the different phisolophical schools,but also reflects the distinctive field of vision and structure.
