Upholding crane lines is an ancient custom both exists in China and Japan.For the Chinese nation and Yamato, crane grain is one of the most auspicious cultural connotation and rich meaning of traditional patterns.Although China and Japan are the Asian countries,deeply influenced by the thought of the East and the quiet different historical origin, the style of the crane decoration is essentially different.In a setting of the literary culture in China and Japan, taking the origin of the Chinese and Japanese crane lines and different historical periods of the shape characteristics of the crane lines as the starting point, this article aims to discuss the process of the development of the crane’s pattern and its symbolic meanings, as well as the cultural implication of the crane lines in China and Japan. More importantly, focus on the analysis of the 14-19 century in the crane pattern shape, structure, layout features, meanwhile trying to accommodate the cultural implication of the crane pattern to the unity of the historical and cultural background, and also summarize the characteristics and rule of combination and the aesthetic value as well as the Chinese nation and the Yamato spirit in the crane lines in 14- 19 century.
