A Study Of Chinese Verb-adjective Multi-category Words Based On Corpus

The study of multi-category words stays a hot spot in Chinese grammatical research. Different from that of some Indo-European languages like English and French, both Chinese verbs and adjectives are predicates. As a result, it is quite difficult to make a research on Chinese verb-adjective words. In this thesis, Chinese verb-adjective words are studied based on corpus. In order to probe into the cause of the generation of multi-category words, some of the English and French words are also sampled and analyzed.This thesis is divided into five chapters.Chapter 1 Introduction. In this part, we have talked about the reason for having chosen such a topic for this thesis. The research steps and methods, the purposes of the study and the previous research results have also been introduced.Chapter 2 The inclusion and definition of Chinese verb-adjective multi-category words and some related problems. The reasons for defining a word as verb-adjective multi-category word are explained in this part. Moreover, some of the related problems have also been mentioned.Chapter 3 A category description and a statistical analysis of Chinese verb-adjective multi-category word. Verb-adjective multi-category words have been picked up from three dictionaries and analyzed based on the corpus.Chapter 4 The generation of Chinese Verb-adjective multi-category words. For the purpose of making a study of the generation of Chinese Verb-adjective Multi-category words, that of English and French have also been researched.Chaper 5 Conclusion.
