Research On Vico’s Theory Of Art Imagination And Relative Issuess Of Imagination In Music

This dissertation, based on Vico’s theory of art imagination, is a study of imagination in music.In Vico’s opinion, now that this world is made by human being, its principles should be sought in our hearts:we sense by sensory organs, reserve by memory, create by imagination. Specifically speaking, sensory organs, in human nature, are the only ways to learn, and then memory is formed, then imagination operates the material and creates common opinions, and then our institution, art and science originates. It’s not hard to find that imagination in Vico’s theory is a kind of original ability to create the world. Art, as an imitation of the mother nature, also follow these world-making ordinary principles.Corresponding the above, this paper will base on the review of Vico’s theory of art imagination and correlate it with musical activities and discuss the exist of imagination as intermediary agent, of imagination’s sur-construction and its historical exist.
