The Singing Styles Of Pop Music And Their Application In Musicals

The modern pop music originated from the industrial civilization of America in the nineteenth century. At that time, pop music was highly influenced and inspired by the black culture. After decades of development and accumulation, pop music was formed based on the black music. If we categorize the pop music by styles, it can be classified to jazz, rock and roll, blues, country music and other types.Originally, the singing style of musicals was traditional and classical. Keeping with the pace of times, new elements were integrated into it. In terms of singing style, it introduces more and more prevalent singing styles. To some extent, the singing styles of pop music and their application in musicals have formed some common characteristics, but they still possess something different respectively. This paper focuses on the systematic study and comparison about the singing styles of of pop music and their application in musicals. It provides some theoretical basis for the better learning of singing styles of pop music and the popular singing styles of musicals.The chapter 1 and chapter 2 of this paper elaborate the characteristics and vocal skills and methods of the singing of pop music and musicals respectively, while chapter 3 compares and analyzes the singing styles of pop music and their application in musicals, which concludes 4 common characteristics and 2 differences. Then chapter 4 starts from the current situation of musicals and the development of pop music, which summarizes how to infiltrate and integrate these two forms of music.The author hopes to compare the singing styles of pop music and their application in musicals based on his own experience and understanding, so as to start the discussion and seed crystal. The author hopes that more professionals and scholars can pay attention to the development of them and make contribution to the development of Chinese pop music and musicals.
