This is a report on translating 2015 BOC Conference Materials of Malaysia and Singapore Sections, which are investment overviews of Singapore and Malaysia, brief introductions of the small and medium-sized companies.Tytler’s principles on translation are applied in the project, which include three aspects:first, the translation should give a complete transcript of the ideas of the original work; second, the style and manner of writing should be of the same character with that of the original; third, the translation should have all the ease of the original composition. In addition to records of pre-translation, translation and post-translation stages, the report also analyzes and studies the typical translation difficulties with the guidance of Tytler’s principles on translation such as how to translate words and expressions with connotative meanings, sentences without subjects and complicated sentences, and how to use authentic expression to realize discourse coherence. The report also suggest solutions such as explicating connotative meaning, dividing complicated sentences by sense groups, using restructuring and conjunctions to handle discourse cohesion, etc.The report records the process of the whole translation and concludes experience that is accumulated through this process. As typical investment materials translated for trade cooperation conference, the project is practical and works out strategies, which can be applicable to similar translation projects in the future.
