The Motional Mechanism Of The Black And White Metaphors About The Moral Concepts

Metaphor is a rhetorical speech, the first study of it is appeared in linguistic research.Later, Lakoff proposed the concept of metaphor in cognitive areas firstly, he noted that the metaphor is not just a linguistic figures of speech, it is also the foundation of cognitive development, it reflects the development of human cognitive processes, which is a fundamental way of thinking. Since then, the metaphor developed from the fild of purely linguistic research to the field of cognitive linguistics.later, extensive research on metaphor have also emerged. For the definition of the concept of metaphor, The researchers did not form the consensus,but they formed a consensus view about the nature of metaphor:metaphor is the process that we used the concept that can be perceived,familiar and concrete concept to construct the concept that are intangible, strange and abstract.And the metaphorical way of expression has become an automatic, unconscious. Morality as a very important and abstract concept has been studied in a large number of scholars. The types of metaphor about moral mainly include black and white metaphors of moral concepts,clean and dirty metaphors of moral concepts,up and down metaphors of moral concepts and so on. The beingness of black and white metaphors of moral concepts has been proved.Many researchers point out that emotion plays an important role in the formation of metaphors,but the emotional mechanism research of metaphor has almost remained blank. Therefore,this study will explore the emotional mechanism of the black and white metaphors of moral concepts systematicly.The experimental program is compiled using the Eprime2.0,three experimental progressives move from one to another deeply, they explored the emotional mechanism of the black and white metaphors of moral concepts systematicly. Experiment one used the classical STROOP experiment paradigm to prove the beingness of black and white metaphors of moral concepts.Experiment two used classical IAT experiment paradigm to explore the black and white metaphors of moral concepts and the black and white metaphors of mood concepts,and compared IAT strengths of the two types of concepts.Experiment three used the changed STROOP experiment paradigm.Present the emotionalpictures before present the moral words,then to explore the changes in STROOP effect to know the emotional mechanism of the black and white metaphors of moral concepts.Research reached the conclusion are as followed:1. The beingness of black and white metaphors of moral concepts has been proved.2. The beingness of black and white metaphors of positive and negative emotional words has been proved,and there is no significant difference in the effect of the black and white metaphors about the two types concepts.3. Mood is an important mechanism in the black and white metaphors of moral concepts, and safe mood, warm mood, tension mood, fears mood have important impact on the black and white metaphors of moral concepts.
