Teaching Chinese character is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.For the Chinese learner whose mother tongue is not Chinese, it’s tend to occur errors in writing Chinese character when they are learning Chinese,and these errors exist universally and regularly in the process of Chinese learning.Based on the materials of Chinese writing errors collected in the Philippines Chinese school,this paper analyses some common types of writing errors from aspects of stroke,component and the whole word of Chinese character. Stroke error can be divided into order of stroke error,shape of stroke error and relationships between strokes error;Component error can be divided into exchange of the component error,increasing or decreasing of the component error and mirror deflection in Chinese character;Character error can be divided into wrongly written character,mixed characters with similar forms and half or whole Complex-formed Characters.After counting and analyzing every kind of error,the essay finds that component error is the biggest percentage of this three categories of errors in the Philippines Chinese school students’ writing,stroke error is second one,while character error is the third one.This essay also discusses the reasons of writing errors at the perspective of student,Chinese teacher,Chinese textbook,Chinese characters and modern technology, then puts forward coping strategies for each type of writing errors,meanwhile,the paper raises some teaching suggestion in teaching Chinese in the Philippines Chinese school.
