A Brief Analysis Of The Composition Characteristics In Prokofiev’s ’Visionfugitives’

This dissertation is designed to be a systematic research to the composition style and characteristics of the ’Vision Fugitives’ composed by Sergei Sergey evich Prokofiev. It discusses the five main characteristics through the whole composition such as classicism, innovation, lyricism, toccata, and scherzo style.The dissertation consists of three chapters:Chapter One-the consistency of the historical background during the composition of ’Vision Fugitives"; Chapter Two-the perfect unity of succession and innovation of the musical elements in ’Vision Fugitives’; Chapter Three-diversification in music style. The first chapter introduces the historical background lies behind the composition of ’Vision Fugitives’; the second chapter discusses the succession and development of the classical composition techniques. Then the third chapter studies the varieties in the musical images and musical styles.From this research, the dissertation concludes that Prokofiev was devoted to classical composition techniques. Traditions can be clearly found in his works. In the mean time, he explored and developed a unique and personal musical language of his own.
