Advantages And Disadvantages Of Saecularization In Tibetan Buddhism

The purpose of this article is to make a further study on the serious saecularization of Tibetan Buddhism,and try to find more valuable information about the relationship between the Tibetan Buddhism and society. This article is devided into five chapters, which among the first chapter talks about reasons for selecting such a topic and its value for studying.And current research and studies about the saecularization of Tibetan Buddhism from both China and overseas, more information about the fieldwork site and the methods for doing research.In the second chapter, it mainly talks about the reason of saecularization and social changes, as well as cultural conflicts in modern society. The third chapter is about the changing of traditioanl learning system in the saecularizationof Tibetan Buddhism,and the demands for believing religion of people, monks life and management. In the fourth chapter, it gives more supportive ideas for the advantages of saecularization of Tibetan Buddhism, it can spread Tibetan culture to society in further step, and make good relationship between the society and Tibetan Buddhism, alleviating people’s financial burdden and so on.The last chapter tries to find some disadvantages of saecularization of Tibetan Buddhism, including the relaxation of learning system for Tibetam Buddhism and lacking high knowledged monks,people face the problems of lacking religious beliefs,and different religious tricks,the traditional culture inheritage of Tibetan Buddhism is facing lots of challenges.Through this field work, on one hand, I got a chance to improve my ability for doing research. And on the other hand, I had some new ideas for the saecularization of Tibetan Buddhism. This is good experience for further studies, and can learn more from the fieldwork. In conclusion, the saecularizationof Tibetan Buddhism has become a hot topic in whole society,and there are many changeable factors.In modern society, the disadvantanges of saecularizationin Tibetan Buddhism is a prominent problem,and having many bad influences to whole society.
