Humanity And Regional Diff Erences In Contemporary Oil Painting Landscape

Vast territory, rugged high mountains and meandering rivers have created a multiethnic country with different local cultures. Chinese landscape oil painting concerns about various typical geomorphic features of vast areas from Northern boundless to Southern moist, and from Eastern plain, hills, mountain land to Western plateau, desert, gobi, which provided abundant of valuable resources for creation.According to the different drawing styles influenced by internal and external factors, Dong Qichang refers to’the theory of Northern and Southern Sects’ in his theoretical exposition of landscape painting. His colorful paintings of Northern high mountain and turbulent water, are seething with dignity and energy, have strong sentimental feelings. On the other hand, his paintings of Southern flat terrain with fields of rivers and ponds, quite in color, have dedicate style, but also elegant prospect. The geographic setting is the basement of building culture, therefore this thesis will analyze the diversities of painting language which caused by regional influence directly in the landscape paintings based on the external factors.The North generally indicates the areas North of Qing mountain and Huai river, there is a clear distinction between the four seasons in the north, it traits plains, plateau, gobi, desert, water is critical for restoration, the site is dry and hot, which built the characters of the northerners, they are straightforwardness and simplicity.The Northeast areas has a cold weather, fertile soil, and the land is rich with plants, such as Great Khingan, Changbai Mountain and so forth, Thus the subject matters of Northeast are snow and forests landscape:the tile-roofed houses build down the hillside, the bread basket full of corn, a stand of trunk and telegraph pole and crisscross electric wires formed the elements of point, line and plane in the paintings.The South areas mostly are plain, hills, mountain, river and pond, the crisscross watery places and plenty of terraced fields become the distinctive features in the regions south of the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. The subject matters mostly are pond, mountain and hills. The composition is built up from grey tone, houses with black roof and white walls that are the distinguishing features of South landscape, quite pond, bridge, flowing water, several boats and water birds, which displayed the artistic conception of Eastern landscape painting.Regionalism has a great influence on artistic creation, this thesis will study the oil paintings after the regionalism streamed into China from the west, and analyze how the regional factors influence the painting language in Chinese oil painting creation. The author want to develop the regional culture and introduce the exclusive regional features of Chinese oil painting art to the world.This thesis is consist of four parts:The first part discusses the characters of regionalism, the author will construe Chinese basic regional characters and analyze the diversities, for the preparation of analyzing art creations in various regions.The second part analyzes the influence of Northern regional factors and regional culture on composition and painting language. In the Northern oil painting creation and painting language, it has richness and diversity influenced by the regionalism, furthermore, this thesis is to conclude the Northern regional influence on the creation through the analysis of Northern artists and their works.The third part discusses how Northern regional culture, climate, arts impact on landscape painting language. On account of the influence of regional culture, the South is full of cultural atmosphere, its works are more accurately represent the cultural conceptions, the artists estrange themselves from politics.The fourth part studies the important value of the regional issues research in Chinese oil landscape painting. The artists from different places should concern about their own land and culture respectively, with the continue discoveries of their own region, they should live life with heart and create the artistic works which can show the characters of times, regionalism and creativity.
