In the 1970s, translation studies experienced the interdisciplinary culture turn. At the same time, the research perspectives on translation also increased and the feministic perspective was very prominent. In order to shake the male authority and patriarchal discourse, improve the status of translation and women, Feminist Translation Theory revealed and criticized the phenomena that translation and women were reduced to the lowest level of literature and society. For traditional translation theory and practice, Feminist Translation Theory is a creative treason. In this thesis, from the perspective of translator’s gender, three Chinese versions of the well-known feminist novel Jane Eyre are analyzed:a male translator Huang Yuanshen’s work (Nanjing Yilin Press,2011), a female translator Zhu Qingying’s work (Shanghai Translation Publishing House,1988), as well as a female translator Huang Shuren’s work (Hunan Art Publishing House,1995).Throughout the previous studies, a few articles studied Chinese versions of Jane Eyre by comparing two female translators’works and one male translator’s work under the Feminist Translation Theory, but most of articles studied that aspect only by comparing a female translator’s work and a male translator’s work, such as The Appearance of Translator’s Subjectivity from the Perspective of Feminist Translation--Based on the Two Chinese Versions of Jane Eyre. As a result, the argumentation of Feminist Translation Theory is a bit thin and the convincing power is not good. Therefore, on the basis of learning from previous results, the author makes a systematic study among three Chinese versions of Jane Eyre, including Zhu Qingying’s work, Huang Shuren’s work and Huang Yuanshen’s work. By comparing two female translators’Chinese versions and one male translator’s Chinese version, the paper will further enhance the persuasiveness and credibility of study, thus contribute to feminist translation studies.Taking the feminist translation perspective as a starting point, the paper mainly studies three aspects. First of all, under the feminist perspective, the paper reflects the impact of translator’s gender difference on translation through a lot of comparative corpus. Next, the paper studies Feminist Translation Theory from three aspects, including the faithful translation under the feminist intervention, the gender consciousness of translator, translation strategies of translator’s subjectivity under the feminist perspective. Finally, the paper discusses the practical value of studying on translation and proposes the research direction in the future. Meanwhile, under the Feminist Translation Theory, a lot of representative examples are quoted in this paper in order to interpret the theory of translator’s gender difference. Besides, the author needs to study four issues seriously. First, it is necessary to study different expressions of the same language phenomena for different gender’s translator. Second, is there Male Chauvinism in translating work? Is the translator always male if there is Male Chauvinism? Third, is it a common or individual phenomenon that Male Chauvinism appears in translating work? Fourth, are female translators always reflecting the strong female consciousness in language use and translation strategy? And have female translators succeeded in highlighting women’s voice and reflecting the original author’s creative intention in translating work? All in all, Feminist Translation Theory will be applied into translation practice and translation criticism by studying those issues. The influence of translator’s gender difference on translation is the emphasis of translation study, which will encourage more scholars to study Feminist Translation Theory in a much wider area. The translator’s gender difference of Feminist Translation Theory has caused scholars’extensive concern and it also has become the researching point in Chinese translating fields.
