A Comparative Study Between Tibetan And Mongolia Of The Birth Of Gesar

The Epic of King Gesar is one of the longest epics in the world and it is the most valuable treasure of Tibetan culture. The epic is mostly passed down from generation to generation through oral tradition. Its content is rich and meaningful, its story is touching and its characters are lively.The epic of King Gesar was originated from Tibet, but it was spread widely in Mongolia,Tu and also in many other minorities’areas. In recent years, many scholars from different nationalities have researched it from different angles and points, many related papers, books and newspapers have also been published. But researches on the originating stories of King Gesar’s Epic in Tibetan-Mongolian leaves very few.Therefore this paper compares the epic in Tibetan-Mongolian respectively and studies the culture of Tibet and Mongolian differently.This paper is divided into four parts; firstly, a brief discussion on differences and similarities between the originating stories in Tibetan and Mongolian.Through studies on books, this paper points out the similarities and differences of the folk artists from both places. Secondly, the social phenomenon before the birth of the King as a background, this paper describes the relationship between King’s father, mother and the whole family in detail. Thirdly,this paper mostly studies on the stories after the birth of the King. Fourthly, this paper compares the originating stories from Tibet to Mongolia to prove the relatively reliable story. Finally, this paper comes to the conclusion that the differences of the originating stories from both two different places and the summaries of the development, further evolvement and features of each story.
