The point is the most basic element in geometry, philosophy and art. There are more and more fiber works created in the form of points with the development of the fiber art. However, we almost don’t see related articles or researches on the point shape in fiber art. So the research in the paper has both practical significance and theoretical significance. From two aspects of category and works, the paper analyzes the point shape of each category, and suns up the method and inspiration source that is worth learning. From the aspects of traditional categories, knitting, embroidery, printing and dyeing which are the most common three categories in fiber art are chosen as the research object. Then two styles that can fully show the characteristics of the point shape are respectively selected as the key object. The paper gives a detailed analysis on the historical evolution, the process characteristics, the shape of point and its application in fiber art in turn, and sums up the advantages of each traditional craft in the modern fiber art. According to the present shape of point, the paper classifies the modern fiber work in the form of points into three categories: various scattered points form, repetitive point gather, local dot decoration. Finally, Modern fiber works presented in shape of point are analyzed, and the advantages and disadvantages of the various point form are summed up.The following conclusions can be obtained on the base of the above work. The point shape form of fiber art has the characteristics of rich colors, strong texture, morphological diversity, outstanding space performance ability. In the future, we can draw lessons from the point of expression in traditional fiber art categories, such as the intersection of cross-stitch, hollow points of embroidery, rich layers of points of blue calico, and so on. We also need to keep the advantage of simple composition method and harmonious unified color characteristic that the modern fiber art works contain. Both draw nourishment from the traditional, and insist on innovation in modern, only this can we make better use of the point shape in fiber art creation, so that the ideas of the author can be expressed best.
