Research On Deng Xiaoping’s Economic Thought And Practice During The Anti-japanese War

The Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu base area was a strategic key district of Anti-Japanese battlefield in north China mainly led by Deng Xiaoping. During the Anti-Japanese War, Japanese troops’ mopping-up for Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu base area was as many as three or four times a year and the mopping of border area was even beyond count, which caused the population decline and reduction of base areas. Besides, the anti-communism climax planned by Kuomintang reactionaries not only harassed the base areas of Jinnan, Yubei and Jinan but even chocked off the supplies to Dare-to-Die corps and Eighth Route Army of Shanxi New Army, which caused the lack of support. Furthermore, the everlasting natural disasters brought enormous loss for base areas and the army and people in base areas faced a severe threat and challenge. In order to confront with the economic blockade and plunder of Japaneses invaders and overcome the financial difficulties, the army and people in the base area had to take the economic enhancement as one of the main tasks to fight against enemies. Finally, under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping and in accordance with the instructions of Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao, the army and people in the base area got through difficulties and won the victory of Anti-Japanese War by producing food and clothing themselves and struggling together.Deng Xiaoping economic thought has been bubbling during the Anti-Japanese War. His experience of taking office helped him to be familiar with economic field and he alsoprovided a series of suggestions and proposals that influenced the future generations. In other words, many of Deng Xiaoping’s economic theories and thoughts in the period of reforming and opening have revealed the importance for the first time in Anti-Japanese War. Under the tough revolutionary situation, Deng Xiaoping carried on a through thinking and practices of economic construction and delivered a lot of original articles and speeches with the combination of objective reality of the provinces of Shanxi, Shandong, Hebei, Henan and so forth, which played an important guiding role in breaking through enemies’ economic blockade, overcoming difficulties and developing social productivity. And a comparatively scientific ideological system, involving promoting the development of industry and agriculture, reducing rent and cutting rates, consolidating progressive tax, lightening the peasants’ burdens, developing commercial trade, planing monetary and finial policies and cultivating economic talents, has been formed.Exploring and studying Deng Xiaoping’s rich experience on economic construction accumulated in Anti-Japanese War not only helps to summarize his economic thoughts in that period, but helps to understand his theory of building socialism with Chinese characteristics put forward in the period of reforming and opening. That is to say, by doing that, the economic theory of that two periods can be known clearly. It is the research value of this study and is also the base of this thesis.
