The Characteristics Of Language For Diplomatic Purposes

As China’s aggregate national strength grows rapidly, it gives rise to China’s greater influence in the international community. China is involved in more and more international affairs and in the meantime, diplomatic language is playing a much more profound role. As to the diplomatic language, it has specific characteristics including clarity, euphemism, sense of propriety, accuracy, argumentativeness and sense of humor. In the regular press conference of foreign ministry, the interpretation of diplomatic language is delivered with limited flexibility so as to be in line with diplomatic principles and defend national interests.
