The Cognitive Study Of Petroleum Term From The Perspective Of Conceptual Integration Theory

The term used as a tool of human cognition, and it has a close connection with cognitive science. People through cognitive access to knowledge of professional and technical, which needed a term to determine, preservation and dissemination. At the same time, the term also reflects the unit of knowledge in the professional field, and the development of the terms has a close relationship with development level of science knowledge. So, the study professional discipline must to have to pay attention to research of the term in the professional field. With the development of petroleum science and technology, there are many new theories, new technologies, and new methods constantly to emerge. New terms of petroleum are also emerge in endlessly, there are a lot of new terms to appear in each year. To master professional knowledge, the term is a basic to understand knowledge of professional field. Therefore, this article takes a novel perspective of cognitive terminology to study term of petroleum. It can provides a new angle to study the term of petroleum, at the same time it can give a new application space for cognitive linguistics. The study of cognitive about the term of petroleum is mainly includes the following sections in this project:The first chapter mainly introduces the origin of selected project, significance and research value, research review, the source of corpus, and the research methods.The second chapter mainly introduces the definition and characteristics in the term and the term of petroleum, and to analyze the source of the term of petroleum, and to foreshadowing for the next step of analysis research.The third chapter is based on the theory of conceptual integration in cognitive linguistics and combined with corpus to analyze the cognitive features of the term of petroleum. Firstly, to introduce the theory research review of conceptual integration, psychological space, framework, mapping, principle of concept integration. Moreover, to introduce the basic form of conceptual integration, which mainly composed the structure types of simple of mix type, mirror, single domain and double domain. Through the use of the four basic forms to cognize and analyze for the term of petroleum. It also can be seen that the theory of conceptual integration is suitable for use in the study of cognitive terminology. And found that, the term of science and technology also contains a lot of metaphor phenomenon, and the metaphor has become a way of word-formation in discipline term. According to the single domain network of conceptual integration to analyze and summarize the mapping relation of animal and human body metaphor in the term of petroleum. And try to analyze factors which lead to animal and human body metaphors in the term of petroleum. Finally summarizes cognitive characteristics of the term of petroleum, and points out that the theory of conceptual integration has a strong explanatory power for the term of petroleum.The fourth chapter summarizes the main research content of this article, pointed out limitations of the study in this article, and puts some suggestions for the future research.
