The Theme Of Ego In The Novel Of Milan Kundera

The contemporary Czech writer Milan Kundera does not like philosopher who explains the theme of ego being systemically, but he represents ego being through the novel. His main idea is: the novel is not used to research reality, but the future possibility. This paper is based on the key words of his novel :such as :game﹑sex﹑body and soul﹑light and heavy﹑immortality and forgetting,analyzing the possibility of ego being in his novel by existence dilemma of an individual or collective in a particular historical context.Using this key words in his novel embodies the thinking of ego being,which gives the significance of ego being to the fictional characters. This paper uses “ego”as the visual angle speculating ego newly. Because he thinks the mission of the novel specially and researches the possibility from different ways, which highlight the thought of ego in his works. Through the ego as the serect clue, we can know the subject of his works deeply. This paper is based on Kundera’s works and achievements of previous study, I use the close reading、the method of induction and literature study demonstrating the ego being of Milan Kundera.Firstly,this paper researches the dilemma of ego being when the love vulgarizes. The love in his works loses holiness, which puts the individual down in the dilemma, but one can do nothing. Then, we study the immortality perplexing the individual. His novel shows different attitudes towards this theme. In the process of seeking immortality, the individual departs from ego farther and farther, which makes the one towards void. This proves the saying of Heidegger “being is void”. Then we seek the theme of forgetting and regression. The writer shows the individual loses ego who has no past and future. Finally, Kundera through the theme of the most secret eros reveals the possibility of ego being. He told us, in spite of the most serect touch, the soul still departs from body. The heavy burden symbols blooming life. Under the pressure, the human being can come to the reality. When we have no pressure, the individual feels free and inanition. Through analyzing his novel,we know the writer does not tell us the answer of ego being, so the conclusion is that there is no perfect humanity,but the failed human life.
