The word of county is a representation object with double meaning in the contemporary culture of China. On the one hand, it has the realistic characteristics from glory to decay as the ontology of thinking and showing for literary and artistic creation. On the other hand, it has the characteristic of symbol of its contents and techniques bearing the mark utility of the transformation of the society and literature. The paper it to analyze and explore the aspects of the space formation, space construction and space meaning and so on among the series of films of Jia Zhangke taking over the spatial narrative theory. It tries to find out the image space construction law and the deep cultural significance of the county and explores a new perspective for the research of the film study of the directors of the new generation. The first issue of the paper is how to form a county and what is its context. The first chapter mainly discusses the historical background of the emerging film and its reason with the county as the narrative space. The county is in the cross area of the city and village and a place with the most intense conflicts between the traditional moral concepts and the new foreign ideological trend. The county in the film can be said to be a microcosm of China with rapid development and widespread dislocation. The narrative space” county” discovered by the directors of the new generation reflects the real life situation of a lot of Chinese people living in the small city and fills the gaps of contemporary Chinese films. The reason why the directors of the new generation show special preference to the space of county is inseparable from their oven life experience and the influence of the Neorealism of Italy. The following issue of the paper is how to do the space construction and what is the relationship among the internal structures. The second chapter is to analyze and discuss by simply dividing the county space into three kinds of public space, domestic space and private space. There are obvious general characteristics of such films in the setting of space: the Heterotopia color in the public space and the estrangement and indifference in the domestic space and the lack of private space. In essence, the subjects of county are all sorts of living people. It is the method of the directors to express their understanding of the county with close attention to different groups in the county. The third chapter is to focus on the characterization of the film. The heroes of the movie in the county are the figures of a large number of literary and art workers at the bottom of the society besides some marginal professionals. Jia Zhangke uses a large number of pop music full of the time color as one of the important signs of his films in the process of creating characters.Meanwhile, people are also making the space of the county change with respect to the phenomenon that county is shaping the behavior of people. The fourth chapter does up the impact of the special county space to the characters in a play i.e. the life and behavior of the people in the county. It is full of the color of depression and imprisonment of the county where they are living for the protagonists in the films and the ubiquitous surveillant view in the county is a kind of silent suppression and discipline to the humanity. It also directly contributes to their desire to escape from the county. However, you can not be truly free even if you escape the county successfully. The paper makes an exploration of the development trend of the creation of the new generation films on the basis of careful carding of the space image. The predictive speculations are bound to provide historical references for the filmmakers and put forward new issues for peer researchers.
