In this study, “The Observer” is regarded as a historical text, from the liberal discourse, by viewing " The Observer " who founded this newspaper, writer’s life experience and knowledge background in historical texts doctrine under the theory of epistemology care context, explore the "liberal" in the sense of the words generated by the system, which analyzes the experience of liberal discourse, facts and mechanisms, hoping thereby to obtain truly objective knowledge of history.This paper is divided into three main parts:The first part mainly start from “The Observer” its historical background and the layout style,as well as main contributors and acceptance and do an overview of this publication.The second part mainly discusses the analysis of the liberal intellectuals’ discourse in order to reveal the embodiment of Chinese liberalism in the practice of newspapers and periodicals. By presenting them with the text, we show a variety of demands and expectations in the eyes of liberals. And adopt the method of provide- which is to form a comprehensive and detailed analysis, and the specific details of the time, in order to present the liberal discourse of " The Observer ".In the third part, from the perspective of the context theory of text, a discourse system,which is formed by the idea of liberalism, is how the liberal discourse system is formed. At the same time, this paper attempts to focus on the idea of running text liberalism and liberals reproduction, combined with the mutual discussions topic between “The Observer” and “Ta Kung Pao”、 “Eastern Miscellany” and to explore construction of liberal discourse system and through the column of "Letters to the Editor" analysis to explore the culture and operation of intermediary editors, authors and readers, and then reveal its public opinion in the public, promote free thought in the dissemination of the important role.
