The interpretation has been increasingly popular in the international community since the world is becoming gradually connected. The Consecutive Interpreting(CI),as an important part of interpretation, is quick, clear, accurate as well as effective and also the majority of our practice in postgraduate stage. To be better at completing the translating task, interpreters tend to apply some flexible strategies and the principle of simplification is one of them.On June 28 th,2015, I was hired by Data and Science Institution of Tsinghua University to be the on-site interpreter for Christopher Surdak. This thesis analyzes the applications of the principle of simplification in the author’s translation, which can be categorized into three categories: omission, summarization and simplification. The purpose of this thesis is to draw lessons from the author’s interpreting practice for later reference under the principle of simplification and provide corresponding solutions and references for other peers on improving the quality and efficiency of the translation and further promoting the cultural and economical exchanges in the world.
