On The Comparative Study Of Kuang Zhouyi’s And Wang Guowei’s Theory Of “Truth” In Ci

As Ci experts during the period of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, Kuang Zhouyi’s and Wang Guowei’s thoughts of Ci respectively embodied in the “Hui Feng Ci Hua” and “Ren Jian Ci Hua”, but the two works experienced a very different fate for been treated as a summary of the traditional Chinese Ci works and pioneer of the modern staple of Ci in the history of nearly a hundred years of study. For this reason, the potential commonness between Kuang’s and Wang’s thoughts of Ci had long been covered and the comparative studies of the two experts’ Ci focused on the differences.If you put aside the abstract historical position and return to the two experts’ texts of Ci, you can easily find the two authors’ works are not absolutely opposed. Between the two kinds of texts, there’re some commonness. This paper argues that the Ci theory of Kuang and Wang rooted in the same basic theory, that is "truth". Based on this theory, they put forward a lot of concepts of Ci, which also have some commonness on a certain extent. At the same time, the differences also rooted in the same basic spirit of "truth". Based on different learning experience, different style preferences and different cognition about creative condition of Ci, Kuang and Wang formed different cognitive in the poetic creation weakness and they formed consensus on the basic causes, that is, the works lose the "truth"--the basic creative aspirations and lost vitality in the two dimensions of “emotion” and “scenery”. They respectively put "truth" as the basic theory spirit into the creation. However, they focused on different words, different knowledge of the word creation rules so that the "truth" is characterized by different techniques styles. Because of the different preferences of Ci, skills and ideas, style demands to form the different evaluation criterion and evaluation results and different concept of Ci history. And this kind of concept, in turn, affect the cognition of the Ci creation at that time. Based on the rational reflection of these problems, they formed the same cognition on primary cause and create a common theoretical pursuit- "truth", as the basic theory spirit of poetic thought..The common problem between Kuang Zhouyi and Wang Guowei is that they both regarded the special rule of some kind of Ci as a rule for all, their theories of Ci have different advantages, but also have some limitations.Based on the core theory of “truth”, the main goal of this paper is to tease the specific relationship between Kuang’s and Wang’s through comparison of their texts to present the multifaceted commonness and differences in basic spirit, aesthetic, theoretical connotation and so on. And it also tries to explain reasons of the commonness and differences to sketch out the inherent logic lines from the commonness to differences.This paper consists of four parts: the first part is focused on teasing the study history of Kuang’s and Wang’s theory of Ci in the latest hundreds of years, showing its different historical fate by comparison, and analyzing the main cause for the different fates in both subjective and objective aspects; the second part is focused on unearthing the common basic theory spirit —— “truth”, and the commonness concepts of Ci through comparison of their texts; the third part is focused on showing the differences of Kuang’s and Wang’s theory in object choosing, main points, ideas of Ci’s history and so on, under the leading of their basic spirit; the rest part will simply tease and present the internal logic from commonness to differences in Kuang’s and Wang’s theory of Ci.
