Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies over the years have gained significant prominence ininternational relations. This research seeks to answer why despite ten (10) years after the CivilCrisis in Post Conflict Liberia the Country’s Peace remains Fragile? My preference of thistopic is based on the need to pursue sustainable peace in Post Conflict Liberia. If Liberia is torevive its economy from the ruin of the violent fourteen (14) years civil crisis and regain itssignificant status in the international arena, then a peaceful system and sustainable peace isimportant for the country’s recovery process. Sustainable peace is essential for the recovery ofLiberia in all its social, economic and political sectors. Therefore, the promotion of initiatives toguarantee the aforementioned is a primary goal. After signing several failed agreements in an effort to end the conflicts, in2003, aComprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) was signed by the parties to the conflict; this finallybrought an end to the war. Today, for ten years now the country has been enjoying this peace, while trying to revive the economy and people from the ruins of the crisis. This research will provide reasons why the implementation of the CPA’s recommendations isparamount to sustainable peace in the Country. The research will specifically focus on the role ofthe Truth and Reconciliation Commission (established by the Comprehensive Peace Agreement)as a significant policy instrument for achieving positive peace in the country. The research willfurther recommend initiatives to prevent the outbreak of future conflicts, which is alsoparamount to economic stability and sustainable peace.
