Since its independence in 1948,Myanmar has endured ethnic conflicts for 70 years.Focused on the lack of trust and mutual understanding between the government and the ethnic armed groups, the disputes between them are long-standing for the time being. The Kayin Conflict in Myanmar can define as one of the Longest Running Civil War in the world. This study mainly focuses on the Kayin ethnicity, who is one of the major ethnic groups in Myanmar and their long-standing conflict with the Central Government. This study aims to find out the Myanmar Government's strategies of conflict resolution and peace-building in conflict with Kayin Ethnic Armed Organizations. This research relied on systematic literature analysis. Both datas form primary and secondary sources are analyzed qualitatively. This study uses the negotiation method, the most diverse approach of conflict resolution theory. This analysis includes three parts:conflict history and conflict actors, the Government's systematic strategies and conflict resolution theory, international perspectives on building peace in Myanmar, and the outcomes of the conflict resolution. The Kayin Conflict between Central Government and Kayin Ethnic Armed Organizations happened due to the desire for regional autonomy.Even though Myanmar Government was making round after round of negotiations with Ethnic Armed Organizations during the long-standing conflict, the tensions between them were seriously higher. After 63 years of armed struggle and several failed ceasefire attempts,Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement was signed between the Karen National Union and Myanmar government in January 2012 with the Government's negotiation approaches.Although twenty years of ceasefire accords have failed to result in any political solutions for ethnic armed groups in the country, ceasefires have been a first step in the process of peace-building in Myanmar. The NCA is not only the first step towards peace but towards building long-held hope for a Democratic Federal Union.National reconciliation and national unity must accomplish to create a prosperous and sustainable peaceful Union.Resolving conflict into peace-building in Kayin State brings many challenges to the Myanmar Government to develop lasting peace in Myanmar. This study provides conflict resolution with a negotiation method to transform peace-building.It suggests further research in finding solutions for the political and economic issues that cause the roots of the ethnic armed conflicts.
