Since May,2008, cross-Strait’s relations had seen a historical turning point. That meansyears of intension between Mainland and Taiwan had been rid of, a series of significantbreakthrough and achievement had been made, and cross-Strait relations had stepped into astage of peaceful development. Meanwhile,“Cross-Straitization”, which means cross-Straitrelations’ influence on Taiwan, had been improved a lot with the Mainland’s increasingcomprehensive strength. Most of aspects such as economy, culture and even politics ofTaiwan had been gradually influenced by the cross-Strait relations factor, which lead to somenew trends and realities besides a deeper and closer cross-Strait relations.“Cross-Straitization” of Taiwan Society means peacefully developing cross-Straitrelations’ influence on Taiwan since2008, the essence of which is Mainland’s influence onthe economy, society, and political situation and the change of Taiwanese’s view on Mainland.First of all, this paper illustrates two definitions: on one hand, the “Taiwan Society “in thispaper is a macroscopic definition, which is not limited to the general “society” definitionconsistent with economy, culture, society, ideology and politics, etc; on the other hand,“Cross-Straitization” of Taiwan Society is a dynamic and on-going process, which include theinteraction between the Mainland and Taiwan. Secondly, this paper tries to apply the theoryof Social System Changes of Talcott Parsons to Taiwan Society. Similar to Mainland’s socialchange,“Cross-Straitization” of Taiwan Society is also a reflection of Chinese Nation SocialSystem Change. Through the four different stages, namely, Adaptation, Goal Attainment,Integration, and Latency Pattern Maintenance, Taiwan and Mainland Society will finallycoordinate and rejuvenate into Chinese Nation System. For a society strongly dependent onexternal factors like Taiwan, external factor plays a greater role in promoting the socialdevelopment. Finally, this paper will emphasize on the analysis of Mainland factor andcross-Strait relations’ influence, which leads to the conclusion: Taiwan and Mainland Societywill finally coordinate and rejuvenate into Chinese Nation System in the future. All in all, this paper aims to study on the Cross-Strait Relations’ influence on Taiwanand analyze the significant influence of Mainland factor since2008.
