Change for charity, also called small donation, is the public charitable action tosave part of the daily life change to vulnerable groups regularly or irregularly. It’s along term fund-raising way of community-oriented, low threshold and small donation.Especially in recent years, the widespread use of the new technologies and the Internetmakes donations very easy. Only fingertips can realize infinite love, which promoteschange for charity in China booming at an unprecedented rate. Change for charityprovides ultra large scale nationwide channels for large fund raising activities andprivate voluntary act of charity, whose purposes are for emergency, disaster relief andsome specific target. It makes hundreds of thousands of public from all over the countryparticipate and act for a common concept of charity. It collects scattered donationinstantaneous together into a huge amount of money to be devoted to the most neededplaces.This article is based on the review of the foreign small donation mode, studysChinese mode with empirical research, and outlines two main modes: one is traditionalmode, including the collection box, the welfare lottery, one day donation, one yuandonation, and care package; the other is based on the new technologies, mainlyincluding the public welfare SMS, network donation, and charitable bank card.Comparative analysis is used on the study of the above eight modes by practical cases.The comparative contents include the mode characteristics, cooperative partners,fund-raising object, charity type, development status, advantages, challenges, andapplicability. This article states the irreplacealbe role of small donation to promote thefund-raising model innovation, to broaden public investment, to nurture charitablehabits of citizens. Some recommendations are proposed on the developing high-qualitysmall donations from charitable organizations,"Trinity" regulatory and promotingeveryone involved in charitable concept and charitable habits.
