On December6,2011by the world health organization, the world bank and otherinstitutions to complete the world report on disability, points out that the globalpopulation disability rates estimated number has increased from10%since the1970s to15%today.Total number of all kinds of disabled persons at present in China hasreached85million people, countries more and more requirement to strengthen theconstruction of the disabled culture, promote culture for the disabled and thesynchronous development and prosperity of socialist culture, in the political,economic and social life put forward different requirements at the same time, willalso affect the product design.6in China more than0%of people with disabilitiesneed equipped with auxiliary products and special equipment.At present, theproducts for the disabled, appliance with a few close to the quality of the productswith foreign equivalent grade of products, most belong to cheap products, most ofthese products is still in the small scale, the design level is low, the status of theproduct performance is not stable.Although for disabled people to carry on thedesign of the products are many, but not fully considering the physiological andpsychological characteristics of people with disabilities, and emotional needs.Thismakes the people with disabilities in the material life and spiritual life are not goodcare satisfaction.This paper so as to adapt to the Chinese people with disabilities products as theresearch object, with empathy design theory to solve the problem of a series ofspecial crowd thought as the instruction, combined with ergonomics, universaldesign theory, the disabled, psychology and other related knowledge, systematicanalysis of the physiological and psychological characteristics of thehandicapped.Design method based on empathy "empathic understanding" in theanthropology research methods applied to people with disabilities in product design,the design method of seeking for the first time to use empathy to guide people withdisabilities, the feasibility of product design, using empathy design method in thedisabled for the first time special product design is effective method and designs for the empathy in the disabled person using the theory of product design to theimplementation process, have certain theory instruction function.Through to thedisabled people dedicated product development in-depth analysis and research, tofind the main problems, put forward the solution, to find a more suitable theorysystem, and build the actual operating system process.Paper finally through a case to verify the proposed design principles and designmethods.Fill the lack of current domestic design and research in this respect, to ourcountry the development of special products for people with disabilities havereference significance and application value.
