Zhou Enlai’s thought of moral education is a scientific theory, formed under theguidance of Marxist theory of moral education and it is also an important part of MaoZedong’s thought of moral education. As an important member of the first generationof leaders of the Party, Premier Zhou Enlai attaches great importance to moraleducation in schools. Both the setting of contents of moral education and the adoptionof the moral education method reflects his respect for young people and his emphasison moral education. Zhou Enlai’s thought of moral education has played an importantrole in the new-democratic revolution stage and has become one of the criticaltheories to guide moral education in China’s schools for a long time after the foundingof new China. His thought of moral education still gives a great inspiration toChina’s contemporary moral education in schools.Setting Marxist theory as the fundamental research, based on the reference ofexisting research results, this paper uses literature material law, history research law,and experience summary law to systematically explore the social history conditionsand theory origins of Zhou Enlai’s moral thought. It analyses and induces thedevelopment course and main content of Zhou Enlai’s moral thought. Then this papersummarizes the basic features of Zhou Enlai’s moral thought and makes a conclusionand some discussion of history value and reality revelation on Zhou Enlai’s moralthought.This paper is divided into four parts for more systematic and objective study ofZhou Enlai’s thought of moral education:Part I: on the social and historical conditions and theoretical origins of ZhouEnlai’s thought of moral education. This article believes that the formation of ZhouEnlai’s thought of moral education is related to the political, economic, ideologicaland cultural backgrounds. Besides, his thought is greatly influenced by Chineseexcellent traditional culture and guided by classic writers of Marxism theory.Part II: on development and the main content of Zhou Enlai’s thought of moraleducation. This paper holds that the development of Zhou Enlai’s thought of moraleducation can be divided into its infancy, formative, mature and development stages in the tortuous period. The main contents include the education of Marxist theory andthe revolutionary concept of philosophy of education, the labor and plain living andhard struggle education and patriotism, collectivism.Part III: summary of basic characteristics of Zhou Enlai’s thought of moraleducation. This paper believes Zhou Enlai’s thought of moral education has suchmajor characteristics as class nature, practicality, nationality, continuity, scientificityand diversity of methods.Part IV: focus on historical value and realistic enlightenment of moral educationthoughts of Zhou Enlai. This paper argues that the historical value that Zhou Enlai’sthought of moral education embodies in three main aspects: first, it is the enrichmentand development of Marxist theory of moral education; second, it is an important partof the theory of Mao Zedong’s thought of moral education; third, it is an importanttheoretical basis to guide the contemporary moral education in contemporary China.Zhou Enlai’s thought of moral education has important practical enlightenment incontemporary school moral education in China: it correctly understands the moraleducation in schools by the guidance of the scientific concept of moral education; themoral education should start from the object of moral education; it sets team buildingas the starting point to improve their capacity for moral education.
