White-collar crime is a serious social problem after America enteredthe post-industrial era in the economic field. In industrial societies,blue-collar workers constituted the main body of social and economicactivities in the United States. After the1970s, with the rapiddevelopment of science and technology, especially the expansion of theinformation economy and knowledge economy, white-collars whoengaged in careers such as management, information, knowledge andservice gradually replaced blue-collar to be the main social-economicbody. The major shift in the social economy also brought a significantchange in social criminal activities in America.Along with the rapid development of economy and the continuousdevelopment of the feminist movement, the status of women is also rising.American women’s political consciousness is much more intense thanbefore. More and more American women participated into politics, andhave already stepped into the political center. Economically, more andmore women came to work, which had a great impact on America’s socialstructure, family patterns and social consumption. Women white-collarcrimes then have seriously negative effects on society. It is very necessaryand important to study about the women white-collar crime due to theincrease of the crime. But currently, the foreign researches of crime focuson men while the research is relatively less and fragmented on women and there is also a lack of domestic research in this area.Under the guidance of “Criminal Sociology” theory, this paper aimsto analyze and research the topic by means of exemplification. Throughthis method, the author will present a comprehensive and systematicstudy on the causes, types and characteristics of American womenwhite-collar crime, hoping that the findings of this paper can also help toprevent related crime in China.
