A Research On Strategies For Ideological And Political Education Of Urban Community In China

With the rapid economic development and urbanization in China, social conflicts are increasing. As a consequence the social stability becomes particularly prominent and then there is an urgent need to strengthen the construction of the Party’s political power at lower level, consolidate the Party’s foundation and build a harmonious society. Thus we should enhance the ideological and political education in urban communities, and communities as the basis of society play important roles in the above-mentioned aspects. Harmonious community is not only the foundation of social harmony, but also the key to building a well-off society. The composition, values as well as behaviors of urban community residents in the new era are showing a tendency of diversification. Community as "a small society" has become a source of various problems and conflicts. In order to solve community conflicts, improve the quality of individual residents and the efficiency of the ideological and political education, we are required to strengthen the ideological and political education in urban communities. Therefore, the comprehensive development and construction of urban communities, and the harmonious and stable development of the society have become a top priority in the modern ideological and political education.To start with, this thesis provides an overview of urban communities and its ideological and political education, and meanwhile the development of the ideological and political education in urban communities is reviewed. Then through the analysis of current situation, major problems of present ideological and political education are put forward which include the limited awareness of participation among community residents, the imperfection of the ideological and political education system, the weakness of the team construction, the backwardness of methods of the ideological and political education, etc. This thesis also elaborates the causes of these problems, which include lack of attention of the ideological and political education in urban communities, the improper operating mechanism, insufficient high professional manpower, obsolete methods and so on. In view of the existing problems, this thesis will propose better strategies and suggestions for the problems as to how to improve the status of the ideological and political education in urban communities, how to cultivate awareness of participation among residents, how to perfect the mechanism of the ideological and political education, how to attach importance to the team construction and how to enrich the carriers of the ideological and political education.
