The Study On Zhao Fan’s Political Ethical Thoughts And Its Contemporary Value

Zhao Fan was a famous scholar，poet， calligrapher， politician andoutstanding minority people who made his own unique contributions in China’smodern history. During his lifetime， he formed “practical statecraft” political ethicalthoughts which are characterized with Confucianism as its main body， mixed withhundred schools of thought. Zhao fan’s political ethical thoughts not only have stronginfluence at that time， but also have positive significance on the construction ofsocialist political civilization and harmonious society today.In view of the fact that the academic researches of Zhao Fan are mainly aboutZhao Fan’s life, cultural achievements, political career,“using psychologicalstrategies” couplet, while the research about his political ethical thought basicallycan’t be found, this article takes Zhao Fan’s political ethical thought as the researchobject. On the basis of a brief introduction of the background of his time, the articleanalyzes the sources of Zhao fan’s political ethical thoughts and outlines the maincontents of Zhao fan’s political ethical thoughts. Zhao fan thought highly of people-oriented thought and dreamed of building an ideal society where the politics andethics are in harmony. He hoped that he could realize his ideal through ways ofdiligent and clean administration，“using psychological strategies”，“sizing up thesituation”，attaching importance to education，reforming and cultivating officialvirtue and so on. After elaborating the main contents of Zhao fan’s political ethicalthoughts, the article summarizing its characteristics and makes a brief comment on therationalities and limitations. Affinity to people, practicality and innovation are distinctcharacteristics of Zhao Fan’s political ethical thoughts; Zhao Fan’s political ethicalthoughts show the rationality in many ways, However, it is evitable to have itslimitations because of its times. Finally, the article discusses the contemporary valueof Zhao fan’s political ethical thoughts. His spirit of patriotism is a good example forpatriotism education; his people-oriented thought，thought of diligent and clean administration，reform thought，education conception and thought of official virtuecultivation are precious ideology resources which are worth excavating. This paperfocuses on Zhao fan’s political ethical thoughts and excavates its rational cores,aiming to provide guidance for strengthening the construction of socialist politicalcivilization. The study has strong realistic guiding significance on strengthening theconstruction of the ruling party and improving the citizens’ moral quality, especiallythe moral quality of politicians.
