The miniaturization of family size and the core of the family structure haveweakened the traditional family endowment functions after the reform and opening up.The transition from family endowment to social endowment, is the inevitabledeveloping trend of pension mode in China. The elderly demand for pension servicesalso presents the diversification. Supporting policies, service institutions, and elderlycaregivers are of particular concern and research interest to the author. Surveys showthat the qualifications, training, and recruitment of the elderly caregivers in China arefar from satisfactory. In view of that situation, this study, by means of literature review, interviews, andcomparative analysis method, attempts to examine the status of the elderly caregiversand to locate the causes of the problems. Under the existing incentive content, it’sdifficult to achieve these targets. This study thinks there are3reasons that cause thisstatus. First, the purpose of incentive is misaligned. The fundamental starting point ofthe current incentive policy is in order to meet the demands of the elderly, rather thanto meet the requirements of elderly caregivers themselves. Second, the content of theincentive is simplification. Only to do the personnel training and the skills trainingcan’t motivate people to engage in this career. At present, it’s difficult to find a job inChina, but the elderly service industry jobs are neglected. Third, the main body of theincentive is not diversification. Currently, the main incentive content is the support ofpolicy, the main body of the incentive is the government, social organizations,non-profit institutions and the family are not involved. Therefore, this article will focus on the incentive strategy of the elderlycaregivers themselves under the perspective of social support, and argues to promotethe study of incentive strategy of elderly caregivers under the perspective of socialsupport.
