The Transformation And Utilization Of Traditonal Culture By The CCP During Yanan Period

During Yanan period, CCP made full use of the traditional culture, according tothe practical situation of Chinese revolution. CCP adopted the essence of traditionalculture to establish New Democracy culture, propagated national culture, fought forthe Anti-Japanese War, struggled ideological culture with KMT, accelerated theSinicization of Marxism, and strengthened the self-construction of CCP.CCP made the most use and transform of traditional culture, including thetransformation of traditional philosophy, traditional drama, traditional ethics andmoral, traditional music, traditional art, traditional dance art, traditional literarytheories and so on, during Yanan period. Although, CCP took a different way totransform and use traditional culture, CCP obeyed the three doctrines in the process.Firstly, the aim of transformation and utilization was to make it work better for thetheme of Anti-Japanese War; secondly, the way of transformation and utilizationinsisted to uphold national tradition and Chinese style, thirdly, the content oftransformation and utilization tried to highlight the production and living situation ofthe masses.During this period, although there are some disadvantages in CCP’stransformation and utilization of traditional culture, it still got fruitful achievementsoverall. It provided the bases to establish the New Democracy culture, strengthenednational solidarity and national confidence, provided the mental strength for thesuccess of Anti-Japanese War; provided the bases to accelerate the Sinicization ofMarxism, denoted major contributions to ideological and moral education of CCP;provided theoretical and practical support to the fighting between CCP and KMT andinjected solid culture deposits for Yanan spirit and national spirit.At the same time, the exploration and effort of transformation and utilization oftraditional culture made by CCP, has a profound effects to the party and thegovernment fully committed to flourish socialism culture, establish an affluent society,make the great rejuvenation of “Chinese dream” come true and so on in the currentand future period.
