On Canal Spirit And Its Contemporary Value

Canal Spirit is a kind of red spirit which is conceived in the process of the building of Hongqiqu that is a thing with the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people of Linxian, Henan Province overcomed the natural disasters.The people of Linxian prevailed over a series of difficulties including the shortage of supplies, poor environment, technological backwardness,etc,only with their own hands and simple equipment such as hammers and solder in 1960 s.They kept on fighti-ng on the towering steep Taihang for ten years with the leadership of The Party during the most difficult period extremely backward productivity and devastating drought.Even so,the construction of "Artificial Milky Way"- Hongqiqu was finished which completely changed the history of Linxian that is a country always suffering from water-shortage.Hongqiqu project made the confluence of Zhanghe and Linxian become true which cut across many provinces pass by lots of mountains.Only in that way can the spirit of Hongqiqu —self-reliance, hard work, unity, cooperation and selfless dedication be formed.This article expounded the current value of Hongqiqu spirit via field research, analysis and summary which combined with the Canal Spirit, Self-construction of the Chinese Communist Party, the construction of The Party and The Country promoting socialism core value, deepening reform to achieve “China Dream” and other related strategic tasks. Meanwhile, the article put forward the specific comments and suggestions for the present problem that need to be solve to forward the spirit of the Hongqiqu.The paper expanded from four parts: The first part provides an overview of the Red Flag Canal project, describes the reasons, processes and historical role of the Red Flag Canal Project. The second part is the out line of Hongqiqu Spirit including the causes, the process and results. Besides, the formation, the development, the corresponding content, the main features and its historical role have to be combed and explained. The third part are analyze and elaborate the significance and the contemporary value of Hongqiqu spirit. The last part is summarizing the problems which is to be solved during the construction and then posing the appropriate policies and measures.
