Deng Zihui (1896.08 - 1972.12) is a great proletarian revolutionist,an outstanding Marxist,a prominent politician and also an excellent expert in the rural area.He was responsible for rural activities of western region in Fujian and the Central Soviet Area during the Agrarian Revolution Period.Deng worked hard and accumulated experience constantly, and finally formed unique thought about China’s rural activities. The Deng’s thought about rural activities forming in the Agrarian Revolution Period is an milestone in the history of the China’s revolution and agricultural development, which makes great contributions to China’s revolutionary process and recovery and development of Rural economy, but also provides a valuable reference to developing agriculture and constructing the new socialist countryside in the new historical period. As an important member of the Communist Party of China in the western region of Fujian and the Central Soviet Area,Deng held the vital leadership position, taking a role in making major strategy decisions and practices.Deng made much account of the rural work, presenting a lot of important ideas, and then doing many effective practices. My paper, based upon the dialectical materialism and the historical materialism, makes explanations for the Deng’s thought and practice about rural activities in the Agrarian Revolution Period with integrating varieties of research methods.Deng’s thought of rural work has profound theoretical origins, basing on his early experience, and develops as the inevitable revolution requirement in the new historical stage.Deng’s rural work thought has rich content, both the macro-level thinking about the basic content of the rural work, but also in view of the level of specific policies on rural work,as well as guidelines for the specific work of the micro-level.Among them, the work of advocating specific policies in rural areas is the most important content. For the victory of the revolution,Deng differentiated all classes correctly,’relying on poor peasants, drawing middle peasants, guarding against rich peasants’;and allocated land reasonably with the principle’extract more to make up less, extract richer to make up poorer’,and constantly improve the policy;proposed establishing rural cooperative organizations and building Soviet financial institutions to develop the economy of the rural.Under the guidance of the thought,Deng had done the following work:opposing tax, repealing debt and reasonably allocating land to inspire revolutionary fervor of the masses;educating and arming farmers and rural cadres to enhance the revolutionary forces;promoting agricultural production and improving the lives of farmers to guarantee stability of Soviet bases. The Deng’s thought has an important theoretical value. It is not only the inheritance and development of Marxism-Leninism,but also an important source of Mao Zedong Thought. The thought furthered the development of the Soviet practice of rural productivity and the process of the Chinese revolution. The performance of Deng in rural Agrarian Revolution is remarkable.Under Deng’s leading,a large number of peasants achieved the land, and the development of rural economy made farmers trust the Communist Party of China more, then the revolutionary forces significantly enhanced. The Deng’s thought forming in the stage of The Agrarian Revolutionary War.The rural work remains important,so the Communist Party should continue to make agriculture as the fundamental position in the national economy, placing a high priority on interests of farmers priority and fully respecting farmers’ rights when formulating rural policy, and using scientific and technological methods to develop rural economy.
