With the national economic development and people’s living standards improving, the financial consumption in the lives of ordinary people has become common, and people have relationships with financial institutions more closely. Between financial institutions and financial consumers’ strength are widely apart. China’s financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism is still not perfect, and financial consumers are often at a disadvantage, so it is difficult to effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests. After the outbreak of the financial crisis, Europe and other developed countries have to reform the financial consumer protection. This paper defines the concept of financial consumers as the logical starting point of the article, and introduces the dispute resolution mechanism of countries such as Britain and America, concludes the problems of our country. This paper is divided four parts:The first part is the general theory summary of the financial consumer disputes and its settlement mechanism. This section defines the concepts of financial consumer, financial consumer disputes, and expounds the basic theory of financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism and great significance.The second part introduces the experience and inspiration of foreign financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism. This part mainly introduces the United States, Britain, Hong Kong and other regions in the handling of the financial consumer disputes, and the advanced parts of the financial consumer protection, which can be used for reference. Whether it is the uniform legislation, or independent protection agency, or independent mediation center, or emphasize the role of litigation, the construction of financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism can’t leave the Chinese actual situation to talk about.The third part is the current situation and problems of our financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism. I point out the problems of our country’s financial consumer dispute resolution from five aspects. These issues are worthy of our thought. Build perfect financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism is imminent.The fourth part is how to improve our country’s financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism. This section uses outside experience which previous paper introduced and the situation of our country as the basis. From four aspects of the legislative, regulatory agencies, social organizations and lawsuit system, this article put forward suggestions of perfecting our country’s financial consumer dispute resolution mechanism.
