Chinese children as a special group among the new American immigrants are adopted by Americans in recent years. By 2013, the number of this group people has been over 70,000. China has officially opened up the adoption policies with foreign elements by carrying out the Adoption Law of PRC and enacting the Registration Way for Foreigners to Adopt Children in China. Besides, the CCAA who specially engaged in service for the adoption with foreign elements was found in 1996. From then on, the number of foreign families who adopted Chinese orphans has increased year by year. Up to now, China has become the first country who provides the largest number of transnational adopted children for American families and America was also the first country to receive the most of Chinese children. In order to strengthen people’s cognition of Sino-U.S. transnational adoption, the author summarized this transnational adoption comprehensively which includes the history background, current situation, its development, the adopted children’s life and education, the influence and enlightenment. The thesis includes four parts. In the first part, the author will introduce the history of global transnational adoption which includes the concept of transnational adoption, the origin and the basic reason. Furthermore, the author will analyze the special history background of transnational adoption between China and America, for instance, the politics, economy, culture and the influence of international situation in the new era. In the second part, the author will analyze the history and future of this transnational adoption between the two countries by analyzing the official statistics and figures and then state its further development in detail, for example, the perfection of laws and regulations, clear procedure and particular trip to China. In the third part, the author will analyze those adopted children’s living condition, education, difficulties and challenges in America by studying the documentary reports. On the basis of the first three parts, the author will analyze its influence in order to give us a correct evaluation and enlightenment and summarize the experience. This thesis conclude that the intercountry adoption just is a way to creat family and makes up the deficiencies of China’s welfare system effectively. Facing the negative impact of intercountry adoption, what we can do is to improve our works. China and the United States should always adhere to the principle of the children’s best interests. What we need to do is ensure the intercountry adoption is completed by legal means, rather than brutally close the door.
