The governors of Song Dynasty attach great importance to use the law to governthe country, especially paying attention to select the high quality judicial officers tomanage the country. Therefore Song Dynasty forms its own characteristics of theselecting system. In order to make people cognizing it objectively, I intend to start thepaper from the following five sections.The first part introduces the background of the selecting system in Song Dynasty.The governors strengthen the centralization in order to grab all the power. Theeconomy grows rapidly, so does the culture. The governors pay more attention to thelaw rather than man. In this background, the governors use various ways to selectjudicial officials. They are Ming Fa Ke, Shi Xing Fa, Lin Shi Xuan Chai and theexamination of Xu Li. This is the second part of the article. In order to guarantee thejudicial officials handling disputes timely and efficiently, the governors also makesome corresponding requirements. They are arriving in time, concentrating on cases,handling the cases by the officials themselves and strictly check-up system. This is thethird part. The characteristic of Song Dynasty’s selecting system is the fourth part.The governors emphasis the importance of law examination and improve theexanimation system. Of course, there are some measures have not been implemented.The last part tries to analyze the system, including the impact on itself and thereference of today.
