Being a cultural society and a civilization community, China always takes the overall situation into consideration. And in today’s world, with gradually increasing attractions to the world, China’s every move will be noted and interpreted into different version, and how we should response to it with caring others’ feedbacks but without neglecting our needs seems a real challenge. Therefore, it asks for the changes both in the national level and the civil level to adjust our thoughts of the real changing world to get rid of the old-fashioned ideas of burying our heads in our own things but without caring others. This change is that Chinese growth is more than a mere material accumulation centering on economic growth but turns to put the international and social progress into the equal footing. China must be aware of that and makes its own hard power recognized by the world community in order to better achieve its own national interests. The new thought of Interest and Morality proposed is of importance to balance the relations between interest and morality, and also serves as a new concept of Chinese diplomacy in the new period, which is practical and meaningful for future China. The thesis starts with the understanding and interpretation of the new thought of interest and morality through the deep interpretation and documentation of the major papers published by government officials and scholars, and then comes to generalize the definition and the characteristics of the new thought, namely of more morality and mutual benefit. China is also undergoing its super power diplomacy to actively build its confidence and the interest of international politics. Meanwhile, it absorbs Chinese traditional wisdom of national and social governance and nutrients from its own culture, which adds more elements of Chinese culture into China’s new foreign policy. In this context the proper understanding of the new thought of interest and morality, the relations between the theory of this new thought and China’s diplomatic practice should be balanced. The new thought can effectively guide Chinese diplomatic practice in the new era and the practice in turn can enrich the content of the new thought, which is complementary. And this thesis takes the examples of new China-Africa relations and China’s responsible superpower role to illustrate it.In the case of developing the new China-Africa relations, the new thought is beautifully served as a banner role to guide this development, at the same time the effect of the new thought can be tested in this real trial. Moreover, the China-Africa relations is quite vital for China’s foreign strategy and the carry-out of the new thought into this relations would like be a demonstration of introducing China’s new diplomatic ideas to other nations and then being adopted and accepted by them. And the interactive cooperation between China and African nations could bring the "spillover effect" in other regions and thus speed up the spread of the new thought. For building a responsible superpower, China highlights international morality and responsibility in this regards under the directive of the new thought of interest and morality. And China is trying its best to be a initiator and policy maker of the global issues, besides realizing its solid self-development interests, it gradually expands common interests of the international community to consolidate and deepen China’s international political foundation for building a truly great Chinese nation. If in the views of realists, the realization of national interest must be the starting point and ultimate goal for China to implement its international responsibility and morality. But with increasing overlap between national interests of one single country and interactive common interests among countries in the era of globalization, so if China still wants to safeguard its own national interest and plays a greater role in the international stage as well, it must shoulder the international responsibility and timely adjust its diplomatic strategy, actively putting its impact on international affairs in the right way.In summary, the new thought of interest and morality will lay the sound foundation to the future foreign policy and thoughts of China’s superpower role and responsible country positioning. General speaking, the grand strategy of an emerging superpower on its rise must ensure the unity of its national interests and international interests, which reflects the logic of integrating the material growth and social progress. And the new thought of interest and morality just takes this logic.
