There are five chapters in this thesis, starting from the basic experiment, theresearch analyzes deeply the influence and judicial value of handwriting written uponsupporting surface by the means of experimental method, observation method, inductive method, comparative method and case study method. The biggest target ofthis experiment is to make this research further and let judicial appraisers to pay moreattention to this field. The first chapter defines elements of condition that could influence thehandwriting written upon different supporting surface, which is the basis of theexperiment. In this chapter, it introduces static environment, handwritingcharacteristic’s major factors, and tells the differences among supporting surface, writing instrument and supporting body. The thesis limits factors, materials, apparatus, and chooses four kinds physical property of surface as research object: smooth, rough, hard and soft. The second chapter introduces the basic theory of supporting surface’s influenceon handwriting and its practical significance, including theory of handwriting identification, writing habit, common features, individual feature, etc. This kindhandwriting characteristic enjoys important status because it is not only requires ofindustry specification, but also the precondition of correct identification. The third chapter is the main staff of the whole thesis. It discusses theexperimental results after describing methods and steps. This experiment is dividedinto two parts to discuss handwriting’s2D (such as writing level, layout, speed, structure, order, brushstroke, power, etc.) and3D (such as writing gap, ink pile anddiffusion, stroke mark, etc.) characteristic upon smooth, rough, hard or soft surface. These characteristics are classified by physical property in the end of this chapter. The fourth chapter introduces the identification points of handwritingcharacteristic written upon different supporting surfaces, including its advantage anddifficulty, methods of collecting materials and samples, and identification and analysisof handwriting. Also, it elaborates the essential difference among disguised, imitatedand old people’s handwriting. The last chapter discourses the practical use of handwriting characteristic writtenupon different supporting surfaces case. The author confirms relevant key points andnotes of identification through a typical handwriting identification case, and putsforward some views to this field.
