In the late1970s, Taiwan Kuomintang one-party authoritarian regime began tothaw. In the1980s, Taiwan ’s democratic reform process started. With respect to theKMT one-party dictatorship, democratization promote the development of democraticpolitical culture in Taiwan. However, Taiwan mainly imitate the American model ofdemocratization, in the course of its development increasingly exposed the other sideof its "democratic". Research in Taiwan help deepen understanding of criticalWestern democracy. This paper discuss the issue of Taiwan ’s democratization fromthree parts.The first part describes the background and the process of democratization inTaiwan Area systematically.60s of last century the economy began to take off inTaiwan, economic development leads to changes of social class, middle class andnon-party forces got a strong desire to participate in politics, against the Kuomintang’s authoritarian rule. Changes in the world situation, and significantly improve instrength and the victory of People’s Republic of China on the diplomatic, forcing theKuomintang authorities bear the pressure from mainland China and the United Statestwo-way, the "regime" legality severely damaged. The combined effects of political,economic, social and other aspects promote democratic reform to start in Taiwan.The second part reveal the existence of the main problems of democratization inTaiwan. Taiwan longstanding ethnic conflicts not only in the democratization processhas not been properly resolved, but intensified, become the tool of the "Taiwanindependence " forces used to oppose to the "one China ", tear national identity. Theentire community to make the election frenzy democratization in Taiwan in danger ofbeing kidnapped by populist politicians. The politicians even collusion withunderworld forces and interest groups,"black gold" politics, bribery and local factionsare intertwined.The third part focuses on the reflections on democratization in Taiwan on theother side. Too much emphasis on election makes democratization in Taiwan fall introuble of "election doctrine"." American democracy" growing in Western capitalismsystem in Taiwan also encountered "acclimatized " problem, economic recession,social antagonism, political corruption and other issues make the development ofdemocracy in Taiwan severely distorted. Taiwan democratization problems arise from another angle shows that mainland China the socialist road of development ofdemocratic politics is a historical necessity and practical rationality.
